Simplicity Blogs

If you are looking for encouragement for a decluttering project or in simplifying your life, you might like to check out some of the many blogs devoted to these topics. Blogs are a fantastic source of inspiration because new posts appear on a regular basis with useful tips and motivating ideas. Many blogs provide the opportunity to comment, and have developed a community of like-minded readers to interact via the internet.

One very practical decluttering blog is Colleen Madsen’s 365 Less Things. The concept of the blog is to declutter one thing for every day of the year. Colleen takes a “slow and steady wins the race” approach that allows you to take on small decluttering tasks without feeling overwhelmed. On Mini Mission Monday, Colleen sets a series of declutter missions for the week which can be a great stimulus if you don’t know where to start. There is a very active network of readers who provide insightful comments on each of the posts.

Another inspirational blog is Lorilee Lippincott’s Loving Simple Living. Lorilee and her husband and two children have taken the big step of downsizing from an average family home to living in a one bedroom apartment. In an attempt to get out of the ‘rat race’ the family have significantly reduced their possessions and adopted a simpler lifestyle. She provides lots of useful tips on minimalism and simple living from a family perspective.

One of the first blogs I discovered on minimalism was miss minimalist by Francine Jay (pictured above). Francine has been blogging on minimalism for a long time, and produced two fantastic books. She has lots of practical suggestions for how to approach decluttering and downsizing. I like the way she provides a philosophical basis for minimalism grounded in a desire to make wise use of the earths resources.

Courtney Carver has a blog entitled Be More With Less. Courtney advocates simplifying your life and really living. She covers issues such as improving health, reducing stress, having more time and less stuff. Her blog is a good balance of wise thoughts and practical advice that is a great encouragement if you are considering a lifestyle change in the direction of greater simplicity.

These are just a few of the great blogs that cover topics of simplicity and minimalism. Even if you are not contemplating a major lifestyle change, these blogs are rich in ideas for small changes that can bring more simplicity to your life.
